GE provides technology for wind power investment in Brazil
General Electric (GE) will provide the technology for a planned wind power investment in Brazil.
The Brazilian government held an auction for companies that wanted to make a wind power investment in Brazil.
One of the successful companies was Renova Energia, which will now make an investment in Bahia with 270 megawatts of power to be produced at its planned site.
GE will supply the technology to Renova for the wind farms in the North East of the country.
Vasco Barcellos, chief executive of Renova, said the company had chosen GE as the multi-national corporation understood Renova's needs.
He said: "This is Renova's first move into the wind business and we were concerned about reliability and efficiency in our choice of technology."
Last year, energy company GDF SUEZ announced it would make a renewable energy investment in Brazil by building a wind farm in Piaui in the North East of the country.
Wind power is ideal for an investment in Brazil as the Latin American country has strong winds along its 4,600-mile coastline.
