More than 1 in 10 UK adults 'considering investment in Brazil'

New research has shown that investment in Brazil is becoming more popular among Brits looking to improve their portfolio.

Baring Asset Management figures have revealed that 4.7 million adults in the UK, equal to over one in ten, are now considering putting some of their investments into the country's emerging economy over the next 12 months.

Nick Timberlake, head of emerging market equities at HSBC Global Asset Management, spoke to This Is Money to comment on the results, stating that a rising middle class in Brazil has made it a potential key player in the global economy.

"The Brazilian, Russian, Indian and Chinese markets are no longer as heavily dependent on the developed world. For example, Brazil's biggest trading partner is no longer the US but China," he added.


This comes after the Associated Press reported some analysts believe investment in Brazil, Russia, India and China will see the countries become powerful economic forces within the next 25 years.
