Hi

UK and Brazil aim to boost mutual trade

The UK and Brazil have confirmed they wish to increase the level of trade between the two nations, it has been reported.

Business secretary John Hutton met with Brazilian trade minister Miguel Jorge earlier this week, during which they discussed ways of boosting mutual relations, according to AFP.

Speaking at a media conference, the two ministers said they hope to double the amount of trade between Brazil and the UK over the next five years.

This would be worth £5.6 billion - up from £2.9 billion in 2007.

Mr Hutton commented: "Britain and Brazil can do more trade together than we currently do."

The ministers added that they are particularly keen to boost cooperation in sectors such as science, technology and financial services.

This comes after Brazzil Mag reported that the South American country is set to develop stronger links with New Zealand.
