Individuals and businesses may be persuaded to buy property in Bahia after travel industry experts tipped it as on of the top tourism locations in Brazil.
The Latin American country is the fifth-largest in the world but many holidaymakers are unsure of the best places to visit, members of the Brazil Tour Operators Association (BTOA) claimed.
Consequently, the organisation issued its advice to potential visitors, highlighting Rio de Janeiro and the North Eastern state of Bahia as two of the country's hotspots.
BTOA pointed out that the region has some 560 miles of beaches, while its Afro-Brazilian heritage gives it an "incredibly vibrant culture".
"With one of the country's richest cultural mixes, festivals abound and music and dance are everywhere," the group added.
Last week, the New York Times' travel expert Paulo Singer picked out Bahia as one of the best places to visit in 2010.
The correspondent described the state as Brazil's "white-hot destination" for travellers.
