People leaving the UK to move into Brazilian property need to ensure they are ready for the worst case scenario, so that if anything does go wrong, they are prepared to deal with it.
This is the opinion of Stephen Jones from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, who explained the individuals that end up having to come back to Britain after things have not worked out are the ones who had not planned ahead for all possibilities.
"It's about preparing for the worst case scenarios," he said. "If you can handle the worst case] scenarios, then you are on your way."
Some of the problems emigrants may face include losing their jobs, if they have moved abroad for work, or finding that their pension does not cover their expenses, if they have left the UK after retirement.
It is also important to ensure that any health care requirements can be fulfilled once individuals have left Britain.
Rhinanon Davies, director of Shelter Offshore, recently warned that people must have realistic expectations for their quality of life abroad and be prepared for some of the stressors in the UK to continue in their new country.
