An agreement has been signed between Brazil and Russia that allows Russian citizens to visit the South American country without a visa and vice versa.
The deal was made along with several other accords this week as president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva played host to Dmitry Medvedev, Brazzil Magazine reports.
Those investing in property in Brazil may reap the benefits of such an agreement, given the growing importance of Russian tourists to the holiday industry.
Earlier this year, research from Lastminute.com revealed that Russia was beginning to overtake the UK and Germany as Europe's biggest tourist provider in some countries, leading to a number of hotels switching their focus in order to cater for the burgeoning market.
The deal also reaffirms the strong links between the two BRIC countries, with Mr Lula da Silva suggesting that Russia could invest heavily in Brazil's infrastructure and transport industry in the near future.
