More and more British tourists are realising the potential of Brazil as a holiday destination and are opting to travel there instead of other countries.
According to figures from the Brazilian Tourist Board published this month and reported by Travel Weekly, over 181,000 people from the UK visited Brazil in 2008, compared with 177,000 the year before.
Most visitors opted to go in January, February and March, during the Brazilian summer months.
Laura Rendell-Dunn, spokesperson for Journey Latin America, said that Brazil is becoming more accessible as airlines see that there is a demand and increase their services there.
She also commented that it is bound to be popular when it offers such a wide variety of holidays, including beach breaks, adventure holidays and conservation tours.
"It is a destination that will appeal to any kind of person. In the north east of Brazil, Salvador is a very popular place to visit," Ms Rendell-Dunn concluded.
