Anyone looking to make a property investment in Salvador, Natal or other north eastern resorts of Brazil could consider capitalising on medical tourism.
According to an article on the Medical Tourism Magazine website, written by Dr David Vequist, this industry has a good growth potential in Brazil and the rest of Latin America thanks to the benefits if offers to travelling patients.
These include a close proximity to the US, a low cost of labour and many surgeons that were trained to western standards.
Not only this, but those undergoing surgery have the chance to recuperate in rented holiday villas or hotels that are close to beaches and relaxed resorts.
The magazine cites statistics highlighted by Jonathan Edelheit, president of the Medical Tourism Association, who said that by 2017, up to 23 million Americans could be travelling abroad for healthcare, with 50 per cent of this business going to Latin America.
Meanwhile, according to CNN Health, the top destinations for medical tourism are Brazil, Singapore and Central America, Timeshare Daily reports.
