Investment in Brazil's domestic consumer market will result in two million new jobs being created in 2010, the country's labour minister revealed.
According to news agency Xinhua, Carlos Lupi made the announcement at a conference in Rio de Janeiro state, adding that it would surpass the 1.1 million net new posts in the Latin American country this year.
In fact, he noted more than this figure have already been generated in 2009, but the country often sees negative growth in its employment figures during December.
Next year will be the best year of president Luiz Ignacio Lula da Silva's administration for recruitment, he said, which will also help its GDP to "reach seven to eight per cent".
"The strength of the domestic market gave Brazil the chance to recover faster than any other country," Mr Lupi was quoted as saying.
His remarks come after an article in the Economist attributed the country's position as one of the world's growing economic powers to steady investment in Brazil from overseas companies.
