Brazil is continuing to enjoy a period of strong economic growth, a media outlet has revealed.

According to Forbes, the South American nation's economy is still expanding at a steady rate, despite the downturn in the other parts of the world.

Although countries such as the US are among those worst hit by the economic slowdown, many emerging markets have also been negatively affected.

However, Forbes believes that Brazil has avoided the worst of this and is continuing to experience growth as a result.

This has had the knock-on effect of pushing up prices across the country, a development which could be of interest to those who are thinking of investing in its property market.

Forbes commented: "The demand for housing, especially in the high end, has driven prices to new highs."

According to Property Secrets, the number of purchases in less-established locations has gone up by almost half in the last year.

Latin America was highlighted as one of the main hotspots of activity, with Brazil in particular proving to be especially popular.
