Brazilian farms for sale could yield a profitable orange crop, as the fruit is reported to be growing well in the country this year.
MarketWatch stated that 495 million 90-pound boxes of the foodstuff is forecast to be produced in this year's harvest. by the US Agricultural Trade Office in Sao Paulo.
This is up 32 per cent on last season and is more optimistic than the 355 million boxes expected by Conab - the country's official agency for crop predictions.
"Excellent weather conditions" and strong prices were among the factors encouraging the improved performance of fruit growers, the US Agricultural Trade Office remarked.
The harvesting of oranges has already begun and as many as 390 million boxes of the total output are expected to originate from the main citrus-growing areas in the south-east of the nation.
Investment in Brazilian farms is expected to rise, Reuters recently reported, with 12 per cent more money forecast to be ploughed into the country's agricultural sector this year compared with 2010.
