The Brazilian Tourist Board (Embratur) is hoping to encourage more Americans to head south on holiday by sponsoring a special festival this weekend.
Sensational Sunday takes place in New York and will feature all kinds of Brazilian culture, including music, dancing, food and photographic exhibitions.
Organisers of the event, which is a celebration of Brazilian Day, expect more than 1.5 million people to attend, which should mean the streets of the Big Apple are transformed into a mini Rio de Janeiro for the afternoon.
Embratur officials will be on hand to give out information about travelling to Brazil, the country's natural attractions and holiday resorts.
Around 190,000 Americans chose to spend their vacation in Brazil last year, which helped the country's tourism industry achieve what Embratur described as near record levels of revenue.
One place holidaymakers may wish to visit is Fortaleza, according to Brazzil Mag's Ernest Barteldes.
The city is famed for its beaches, but Mr Barteldes said that it also has plenty to interest people who do not want to laze in the sun all day, including music festivals, a wide selection of restaurants and a multimedia centre.
