Brazilian tourism sector continues to thrive

Brazil's tourism industry is continuing to experience considerable growth, according to an industry expert.

Jean-Claude Baungartem, president of the World Travel and Tourism Council, said the South American nation is currently listed 14th in the global tourism economy.

This, he stated, is up from 18th place during 2007, reports Gazeta Mercantil.

Mr Baungartem has attributed the increase to continuing growth in the holiday industry, as it is expanding at a rate which is well above the international average.

This could be good news for overseas property buyers who are considering making an investment in Brazil, as growth in the tourism sector could have a knock-on effect on its housing market.

Furthermore, an influx of extra visitors will be likely to lead to additional demand for rental accommodation across the country.

According to HiFX, the amount of British interest in the Brazilian property market went up by one per cent during June 2008.
