New research has indicated that people concerned about their environmental impact could consider buying property in Brazil.
Data gathered by National Geographic Society and GlobeScan ranked Brazilian consumers as the best when it came to environmental purchasing. They were tied for the top spot with India.
In particular, the report showed that people who lived in Brazil were able to reduce their environmental impact through their property use.
It praised the use of low levels of home heating, the high uptake of on-demand water heaters and wide penetration of renewable electricity in Brazilian property.
Thomas Lovejoy, chairman of National Geographic's Conservation Trust, commented: "The Greendex shows us that consumers' choices play a large role in their environmental footprint.
"Governments and businesses, therefore, have a responsibility to ensure that environmentally friendly options are available and affordable to all consumers, especially those in the developing countries, whose index rankings may fall as economies grow and consumption patterns change."
Recently, market analyst James Gonzalez said that investing in Brazilian property was especially prudent at the moment, given the volatility of other economies.
