Brazil's presidential candidates for the upcoming October elections - one of which said they would continue the Minha Casa, Minha Vida (My House, My Life) affordable housing scheme - began television campaigns yesterday (August 17th).
The two main contenders in the race are Dilma Rousseff and Jose Serra, who came out of a Vox Pupoli Poll with 45 per cent and 29 per cent respectively, according to the IG website.
Ms Rousseff was recently reported by Reuters as saying she would continue the successful macroeconomic policies put in place by current president Luiz Inacio da Silva - which could include affordable housing scheme Minha Casa, Minha Vida.
Green party candidate Marina Silva, who had eight per cent of the vote in the Vox Pupoli Poll, has also said she would extend the programme.
According to the BBC, most voters gain the majority of their knowledge about the runners from party political broadcasts on radio and television, so the success of the campaigns could be very important.
