Anyone considering a property investment should purchase in the capital city of their chosen country.
This is the opinion of Marc Da-Silva, editor of independent advice site HomesOverseas.co.uk, who said that these areas are where there will be most activity that will lead to greatest returns.
"I would advise anybody primarily to buy in the capital city. It is where [there is] the greatest demand for both rental accommodation and resale homes," he pointed out.
Although Brasilia is the capital city of Brazil, there are excellent buying opportunities in the capital cities of the individual states.
For example, Salvador is the capital of Bahia in the north east and is a bustling city with clear African roots, according to Conde Nast Traveller.
Property in Salvador may be popular with people looking to rent on their holidays, as it has beaches stretching north all the way out of the city, as well as attractions like Bahia football ground.
