A Chinese carmaker is considering making an investment in Ceara, according to reports in the Brazilian media.
Local news providers claimed that Chery International, which was founded in 1997 and produces around 650,000 autos a year, is considering the North East Brazilian state as one of the potential locations for a new vehicle factory.
Other regions of the Latin American country which the manufacturer is considering for the assembly plant are Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul, macuahub.com reported.
In a bid to decide on the location of the proposed factory, two parties from the engineering firm will visit Mato Grosso do Sul state over the coming weeks.
The first trip will arrive this week (starting January 11th 2010), while the second will follow one or two weeks later, the news provider revealed.
Production at Chery's first Brazilian industrial unit is expected to reach 150,000 vehicles per year, beginning in 2012.
