Firms centred on investment in Brazil and other emerging markets have consistently outperformed investors within other economies throughout the last decade, the Association of Investment Companies (AIC) has said.
After analysing the achievements of investment firms over the last ten years, the organisation found that half of the top 20 companies focused on opportunities within developing countries.
Annabel Brodie-Smith, communications director at the body, said: "Traditional past performance is clearly an important criteria when considering an investment but looking at discrete performance gives you a better understanding of potential investment."
Other factors to look out for when considering where to bet money are the objective of the company, the level of risk, what major holdings the firm has and what discounts and charges the deal carries, she added.
According to the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD), expansion in emerging markets like Brazil is helping to lift more developed countries out of recession.
