Commercial investment in Brazil could grow in popularity following a new oil discovery in the Campos Basin.
Stretching from Cabo Frio - in the state of Rio de Janeiro - to Florianopolis, the offshore site is the largest in the country.
Over an area of 352,000 km, it is split into five production poles, in which both deep and ultra-deep drilling has been achieved.
Two new accumulations have been identified in a single well around 100 km off the coast of Rio de Janeiro state.
One of the discoveries is estimated to have the potential to yield 25 million barrels of oil, while it is predicted 40 million barrels could be recovered from the other.
Having found the accumulations in the Barracuda Field - where complete outflow and production infrastructure exists - the company is now looking into the possibility of interconnecting the well to nearby Platform P-43, which is already in operation.
