Writing for the National, Ed Stocker described his visit to the area, calling the town "Brazil's little Rio".
Florianopolis is the capital of Santa Catarina state and one of the largest cities in the south of the country, the journalist stated.

It has become very popular with tourists for its beaches, cosmopolitan culture and scenery, the website continued, as well as gaining from a boom in the property sector as people from places like Rio Grande Do Sul and Sao Paulo are purchasing real estate in a search for a better quality of life.
Indeed, Mr Stocker said the city was popular with holidaymakers in their 20s and 30s, as well as attracting domestic tourists and Argentineans between December and February.
