Dilma Rousseff, a presidential candidate in Brazil, has said she would continue the projects that current leader Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has introduced to the country, which include schemes that may benefit property in Rio de Janeiro.
The politician is being backed by Lula, who was present at her first big election rally in Rio on Friday (July 16th), telling voters that Rouseff could ensure the economic and social gains made during his term were continued, according to Reuters.
"I'm not a man with two faces," he said. "I know her and I tell you that my comrade Dilma who was chief of staff is ready to be president."
Mercopress reported that the leader had urged the electorate to choose Rouseff so that there is no "back stepping" in the programmes he has put in place.
This could include the Minha Casa, Minha Vida (My House, My Life) affordable housing project, which was recently extended, while the resources dedicated to it were doubled to assist the government in its aim of developing two million new homes over the next four years, Reuters recently noted.
