Tourists in Salvador may have been lucky enough to see a famous face this week, as the Cuban president made a brief visit to the Brazilian city.
Raul Castro arrived in the state of Bahia yesterday (July 22nd) after concluding a tour of Africa.
Along with Bahia's state governor Jacques Wagner, Mr Castro headed to St Francis Church and the Capoeira Museum in Salvador, both popular tourist hotspots.
He also enjoyed a chat with the governor before getting back on his aeroplane late the same day.
The Capoeira Museum is a celebration of an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines martial arts, games, music and dance.
It was created in Brazil by the slave population that was brought over from Africa and the museum about it displays antiques and artefacts relating to slavery and Capoeira.
Raul Castro was elected Cuban president on February 24th 2008 after Fidel Castro announced he would not stand for the position again due to ill health.
