Fortaleza, the capital of Ceara in north eastern Brazil, has been recommended as the best place to buy property in the Latin American country.
Ronan McMahon, a real estate consultant, told Canadian Business that the city is his number one pick for the second year running, thanks to the benefits it has to offer investors.
He said these include thousands of miles of beautiful beaches and plenty of facilities for visitors, all of which will encourage tourism in the region and will therefore offer good returns on properties such as villas and apartments.
Mr McMahon added that Brazil's self-sufficiency in oil, water and agriculture are also a good reason to make an investment there.
Fortaleza is the fifth largest metropolitan area in Brazil and houses over three million people, according to VisitFortaleza.com.
The site recommends Mercado Central and the cathedral as some of the city's main attractions, as well as the busy but safe nightlife and delicious cuisine.
