Technology company Foxconn may be planning to make an investment in Brazil, according to recent news reports.
Brazilian information source RedeBomdia has stated that the firm intends to build a new factory for the manufacture of Apple products near Sao Paulo.
Foxconn currently builds items designed by Apple in China, but is understood to be looking at the possibility of setting up a new plant in Jundiai.
It already operates in this area, which lies 37 miles north of Sao Paulo, manufacturing Sony and HP products.
News providers also noted that Brazilian billionaire Eike Batista recently urged Apple to open up a plant in the Latin American country.
Neither Apple nor Foxconn have commented on the rumours, although BomDia reported that studies have been commissioned by the manufacturing firm to assess the feasibility of moving operations to Brazil.
Foxconn Technology Group currently has factories in Europe, Asia and the Americas, with 200,000 employees across the globe.
