Brazil's agriculture industry is a shining example to the rest of the world, it has been claimed.
According to an article in the Morung Express, the country's farming sector is "the model of successful commercial agriculture" and shows how sophisticated technology can be used to effectively mass produce crops.
This is demonstrated particularly well in Brazil's ethanol production industry, the piece suggested, stating that Brazilian ethanol is vastly superior to that produced by its chief market competitor the US.
Referring to the large demand for ethanol as an alternative source of fuel in North America, it said: "If the US wants to run off of agrofuel instead of oil, then Brazilian sugarcane is the answer.
"It is a far more efficient source of energy than American grain."
Brazil's agriculture industry has grown steadily in recent years and accounted for approximately 5.5 per cent of the country's gross domestic product in 2007, according to the CIA World Factbook.
This equates to approximately $101.6 billion (£66.8 billion).
