Investors could be inspired to buy property in Ceara after a travel writer described the region as a beautiful and laid-back state.
Stanley Stewart, a correspondent at the Australian, explained that the North East Brazilian state is such an attractive area because of its remoteness, noting that it is almost as far from Sao Paulo as it is from Europe.
The fishing village of Jericoacoara (or Jeri) has one of the best-known beaches in Brazil, he noted, adding that it has begun to attract visitors from all over the world in the last 20 years.
Although the area has seen development in its infrastructure in the last few years in a measure to support the flourishing tourism industry, the writer explained that these projects have not been carried out at the expense of the area's traditional charm.
"Jeri is the place where barefoot tourism and barefoot Brazil meet and mingle," he said.
His comments come after Todd Prodanovich, a writer for the University of California's Daily Nexus, recommended Itacare in North Bahia has numerous sandy white beaches and is a paradise for surfers.
