Anyone staying in a rental property in Fortaleza this year may wish to take an off the beaten track trip to a nearby beach location which has received rave reviews for its idyllic nature.
Jericoacoara, an old-fashioned village on the north east coast of Brazil, is suggested as a great place to visit by Sarah Amandolare of Finding Dulcinea.
She points out that while anyone wanting to go there will have to travel for eight hours along a bumpy road, the end result is well worth it.
The beach is great for wind surfing thanks to prevailing trade winds, while for people who aren't so sporty, the giant sand dunes make a great place to watch the beautiful sunsets, the expert comments.
"View several 360-degree panoramic images of Jeri's aquamarine waters, terracotta-coloured sands and bright yellow dwellings," Ms Amandolare states.
Jeri, as it is known by the locals, is a quiet fishing village so could be ideal for people who want something different from the hustle and bustle of cities like Rio de Janeiro.
Not only this, but the area is likely to be less full of holidaymakers as it is less well-known than other popular tourist haunts.
Jericoacoara also came highly recommended by a New York Times journalist back in 1999. Diana Jean Schemo said she visited the village and was impressed that "you never really leave the beach" no matter where you walk to.
The village remains largely unchanged since then and although it may not be as well-developed in terms of restaurants and shops as other resorts, the journalists say that this adds to its charm.
However, this does not mean that there is nothing to do and see on a day trip - there are a number of small eateries selling pizza, pasta, fresh fish dishes, crepes, tapioca at affordable prices, while at Lagoa Azul & Lagoa Paraiso, visitors can take a thrilling hour-long dune buggy ride over the sand to a beautiful freshwater lagoon.
And Jeri may be ideal for Britons fed up with incessant rain at home - according to its official website, the average air temperature is a balmy 29-35 degrees C, while the rainy season is from February to May.
Jericoacoara is situated approximately 180 miles north west of the popular resort of Fortaleza, a destination which people visiting the village for a day or two may wish to use as a base.
