The New Zealand government has announced its intention to develop stronger links with Brazil.
Foreign minister Winston Peters said that efforts to boost mutual political and economic ties between the two nations will be stepped up, reports Brazzil Mag.
As part of the plan, a consul-general to Sao Paulo will be appointed in order to establish a larger diplomatic presence in the South American country.
A new reciprocal holiday scheme which will allow young New Zealanders to live in Brazil for a year has also been set up.
Mr Peters commented: "Brazil is an emerging economic and political superpower.
"Expanding our diplomatic presence will help New Zealand promote its interests in Brazil."
He added that the two respective governments have agreed to meet more frequently in order to discuss common aims and objectives.
This comes after Xinhua reported that the Brazil Trade and Investment Promotion Agency plans to double the amount of trade with China over the next five years.
