Overseas investors looking to buy property in Bahia could look to the town of Itacare, which an expert has said is a paradise for surfers.
Todd Prodanovich, a writer for the University of California's Daily Nexus, said that while it may not be a large place, Itacare has plenty to attract tourists.
He commented that the town, which is located south of the North Brazilian state capital of Salvador, has numerous white sandy beaches which offer the best surf in Bahia.
"It is a town that has become known throughout the Brazilian state of Bahia as the surf mecca of the north, and for good reason," he explained.
Everyone in the town loves to surf, he noted, adding that this explains why most of the shops are shut in mid-afternoon.
According to Itacare's website, its most popular attraction is the beach at Concha, which is situated near the town and is the best place in the area to sit and watch the sun go down at the end of a long day.
