Media provider Net Fortaleza have partnered with an American company to increase broadband speeds from its data centre in north east Brazil.
Specialising in subscription television, phone line and broadband, the media provider has secured a deal with PeerApp, a US technology company, to accelerate the speed of its internet video downloads.
A study into internet access in Brazil by networking company Cisco Systems found that between 2005-07, the number of broadband connections more than doubled from four million to 8.1 million, and is expected to increase to more than ten million by 2010.
Net Fortaleza currently provides online video to 24,000 of its subscribers, and gives another 40,000 customers access to high speed data.
The company's CEO, Nilo Sergio, explained that more than 95 per cent of its customer base would benefit from faster video streaming and downloading as a result of the PeerApp deal.
"Providing a high-quality internet video experience is a key element to growing our subscriber base," said Mr Sergio.
