Anyone looking for a holiday that is a little bit different to the average package tour should head to north eastern Brazil.
This is according to William Maddicott of STA Travel, who told the Guardian that he would prefer to go to resorts like Recife or Natal over traditional tourist hotspots like Rio de Janeiro.
He said that many people fly straight to the south, missing out on all the things that the more northern areas have to offer.
"If you head up to the likes of Recife or Natal you'll discover an altogether different Brazil," Mr Maddicott promised.
For instance, holidaymakers can find traditional colonial towns like Olinda, which have cultural attractions like craft markets.
They could also check out quiet beaches like Ipojuca, or take a boat ride down the source of the Amazon, the expert suggested.
According to Recife's official website, the city is the ninth largest city in Brazil by population.
