The state of Pernambuco is home to a booming economy and many opportunities to invest in the country, according to one organisation.
Invest in Brazil, an investor information source, said that the area is known for its beauty, with its capital Recife considered one of the prettiest cities in the country and 187 kilometres of beaches making tourism an important industry in the region.
Pernambuco, the company stated, is driven by agriculture with 90 per cent of Brazil's sugar output hailing from there. The area's economy is expanding quickly, the firm said, with that of its largest industrial and port town Suape growing 16.7 per cent in 2006, making the state the second most rapidly advancing in the country at 6.3 per cent growth.
Dean Newman, head of emerging market equities at global investment management company Invesco Perpetual, recently recommended investment in Brazil, saying that it could offer strong returns due to the stability of the economy and the political landscape, as well as the positive outlook for growth.
