Property in Fortaleza is affordable, says expert

Buying a holiday property in Fortaleza can give investors access to winter sunshine and does not have to be expensive, experts have said.

Lucy Denyer, Anna Mikhailova and Emma Wells, writers for the Times' property supplement, explained that owning a second home in a more exotic location than the UK does not have to be "downright unaffordable".

"The economic climate means there are bargain bolt holes in some of the most popular winter hideaways," they commented.

Noting that Brazil enjoys a "perpetual summer" and is famed for its beaches, they said that a one-bedroom beachfront property in Fortaleza could cost as little as £45,000.

The city of Fortaleza is the state capital of Ceara, located in the North East of Brazil.

It is the fifth-largest metropolitan area in the Latin American country, with a population of more than three million.

Property in Rio de Janeiro costs a little more, they added, but £180,000 could still buy a two-bedroom flat in the city.ADNFCR-1477-ID-19460708-ADNFCR
