Rental property in Rio de Janeiro may be in demand from a diverse range of tourists, from backpackers to people seeking a luxury getaway.
Kevin Raub, author at Lonely Planet, said the city's wide variety of attractions make it suitable for holidaymakers of many different types.
While gap year students may stop in the town during their adventures, party-goers often arrive in time for the area's famous Carnival and those who simply want to relax in the sun have Copacabana, Ipanama and Leblon beaches to choose from.
"A journey to Rio de Janeiro has been romanticised over time by everyone from Hollywood to football fans to sun and sand junkies," Mr Raub stated.
"Very few tourists ever encounter anything but joy from the Cidade Maravilhosa," he added.
Some of the attractions that pull tourists to the region include the Christ the Redeemer Statue, which has been named one of the Seven New Wonders of the World, as well as Sugarloaf Mountain.
With the 2014 World Cup being held in the city, another major feature of Rio - Marcana Stadium - could see an increase in visitors.
The football venue is one of the largest in the world, the expert said, noting that it is symbolic of the "might" of Brazil's national team.
The 2014 World Cup will be held in 12 cities across the country, including Fortaleza, Natal and Salvador.
