Overseas property owners have been advised to consider renting out their residences to visiting tourists.
According to Holiday-Rentals, people with a home in a popular tourist destination could potentially make money by letting it out to leisure travellers.
Indeed, managing director Greg Grant believes that "savvy" owners could earn enough money within a single month to cover a year's running costs.
Since people are currently living in "tighter time", he has predicted that more and more people will take up the option of letting out their property.
Mr Grant commented: "We expect to see continued growth in the holiday home rentals market, both in terms of supply and demand."
He added that environmental concerns and global economic problems are not putting consumers off travelling to other countries.
Analysts in the travel industry recently revealed that countries outside Europe are proving to be especially popular with British leisure travellers this year.
According to the Association of British Travel Agents, the highest growth in visitor numbers is being seen in long-haul destinations.
