Investment in Brazil's wind power generation sector will be made as part of the country's commitment to renewable energy.
This is according to Regulacion Eolica con Vehiculos Electricos (REVE), a regulator of wind energy in electric vehicles, which said that 330 new wind power projects have been approved across the country.
Tendering for the contracts to construct and operate the sites will begin on December 14th 2009, it reported, with the wind parks expected to be in use from 2012.
Currently, investment in Rio Grande do Norte has seen the North East Brazilian state become the home of much of the country's power generated using this method, with 105 wind parks producing 3.6 GW of energy.
In combination with Ceara and Rio Grande do Sol, the states account for in excess of 60 per cent of the wind power generated in Brazil.
This news comes after Rio Grande do Norte became the subject of more investment news, with Largo Resources planning to acquire a tungsten mining project in the region.
