People looking for hotels for sale in Brazil may be interested in looking at property in Rio de Janeiro, as one journalist has suggested individuals should visit the city during its annual carnival.
"If you're looking for a way to get to know real Brazilian culture, Carnival is a fantastic time, with many neighbourhoods proudly represented and displaying their very best," Annemarie Dooling wrote in an article for the Huffington Post.
The carnival will take place between March 4th and 8th this year but it has been suggested that this is not the only thing the city has to offer.
Ms Dooling outlined the four places she recommends for tourists taking a break in the area during the celebrations, including natural attractions, monuments and shopping facilities.
The commentator explained that Shopping Leblon is a recently built mall in the middle of the city, which is popular with the locals. Visitors to Rio de Janeiro will find high-end retailers inside the facility, including Maria Bonita.
Ms Dooling also advised those hoping to browse the stores to check out Alequin, an outlet in Paco Imperial.
"Sit down for a while at one of the adorable mismatched tables and soak in some Brazilian culture," she suggested, saying the shop sells local music.
This could be a great chance for those staying in property in Rio de Janeiro to check out the samba tunes that may be played at the carnival.
Ms Dooling reported that Brazilians rehearse the dance in preparation for the celebrations, with Samba schools competing on the day for a prize.
Writing for the Seattle Times, Kristin Jackson explained this award was an honour in Rio de Janeiro and hundreds of dancers take to the streets to participate.
"Hawk-eyed judges watch them strut their stuff in the Sambodromo, a viewing area with grandstands, declaring the samba-school champion," she said.
While Ms Dooling reported that large floats and handmade costumes are used by the entrants, Ms Jackson described the dancers' outfits as sometimes being "little more than feathers and smiles".
Once the carnival is over, people staying in the city should not be left with nothing to do, as Ms Dooling recommended the Sugar Loaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer statue as attractions tourists could enjoy.
Another option is to cycle around the area's lagoon, which she said could give visitors the chance to see many parts of Rio, while placing them at the centre of where many festivals and events are located.
