Those looking to buy property in Rio de Janeiro may like to consider the advice of Real Brazil Travel, which advised visitors to consider a number of "luxury" areas just outside the city.

While the city of Rio is well-known, the boutique travel agency claimed that much of the rest of the state is still considered to be a well-kept secret.

Daniela Schuch, a native Brazilian and founder of the company, explained many people visiting the Latin American country are keen to head to an area which offers "solitude, escape, and something that feels authentic".

She added: "Areas outside the city of Rio de Janeiro combine all of that."

The firm recommended Buzios, Angra dos Reios and Paraty - all of which are within a four-hour drive of the city of Rio de Janeiro - as areas which offer luxury accommodation, authenticity and natural beauty.

Real Brazil Travel's advice comes after Bloomberg reported that Four Seasons Hotels and Jumeira plan to make an investment in Rio de Janeiro, which will see them open hotels in the city.ADNFCR-1477-ID-19492542-ADNFCR
