Brazilian football legend Ronaldo has expressed a desire to make his comeback from injury at his hometown club, Flamengo Rio de Janeiro, according to reports.
The three-time world player of the year is currently unemployed after being released from his contract by Italian side AC Milan and despite interest from a number of European sides, the Brazil Sun reports he is now hoping for a "dream" move to Brazil's most popular team.
However, the striker acknowledged that after being out the game with a ruptured kneecap he suffered last February, he has a lot of work to do before he can play again competitively.
"I don't want Flamengo to take me as a favour," he said.
The news site reports that the double World Cup winner has already trimmed down since he started training with Flamengo at the beginning of September.
And while he has not ruled out retirement, the player known as the Phenomenon still hopes to play at the top level once more - and possibly even add to his 97 appearances for his country.
Ronaldo's previous clubs include Cruzeiro, PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Real Madrid and I Internazionale.
