Investors may be encouraged to buy property in Salvador after Lonely Planet described it as one of the best locations to celebrate the carnival season in Brazil.
Travel editor of the guidebook Tom Hall remarked that while the Rio de Janeiro carnival is better-known across the world, the North East Brazilian city - which is the state capital of Bahia - still attracts a huge number of visitors.
According to the Latin American country's official carnival website, the Salvador festivities are "by far the biggest street party in the world".
The city's carnival will get underway on February 11th 2010 and will run for six successive days, during which time it is expected to attract around two million revellers.
Mr Hall said the destination is especially popular with the youth market, saying: "Salvador is the one that if you talk to people in Brazil, particularly young people, they will tell you that's the one to go to."
